Back from Japan

It’s been a while since I’ve posted and that has been primarily due to the fact that I had been preparing for an oral presentation at the World Haptics 2007 conference. I presented a paper this past week on research that I had conducted with Dr. Hong Z. Tan at the Haptic Interface Research Laboratory investigating whether a linear system model can be used to describe human texture perception. Our research supports the hypothesis that the human somatosensory system may perform a spectral analysis on the proximal stimuli and that a linear system model may describe human texture perception.

I had the opportunity to present our research and to take some time to travel to Tokyo (with my friend Matt Kocsis) and Kyoto. I’m going to get back into the swing of things and start posting more projects (I’ve got a couple up my sleeve that some people might find interesting). I’m also going to post some galleries of pictures from my travels.
